Prospecting weekend

We arrived at the claim site early Saturday morning.  The excitement of getting started  was almost to much to keep in.  We had our high banker, modified just a little.  We highly recommend the screened in canopy setup you see in the pictures and video.  It not only helps with sun and wind but it keeps the bees out.  We setup in the middle of a wash right at the site of an elevation change.  It must be a hell of a water fall, when the water is running.  At the base of the water fall is where we dug.  First one foot then two, the loose sand falling back in the hole.  Soon the hole was close to four foot deep and the same around.  We did find bed rock on the vertical slope of the water fall.  It was getting late after noon and we wanted to try the high banker.  Great planning on Pops part for a supply of water from a tank in the back of his truck, gravity fed down to the dry wash.  It worked great, we had more water than time for prospecting.

We had to try a little metal detecting before calling it a day and starting our camp fire.  The camp fire was one of the many highlights of the trip.  The sun set was spectacular, the sun rise was even better.

The next day was load up day, a lot of supplies to set up and take down for one day however we were very thankful for the time we did get.

We are looking forward to expanding the hole and finding the gold nuggets that we know are down there.  The next trip needs to be at least two full days.

We both had a great time, prospecting is fun!  Thanks Pops.
